How the LumbarROM works:
This low back rehabilitation equipment allows the physician or therapist to induce motion into the lumbar region. Influencing range of motion into the lumbar discs and facet joints increases circulation, increases nutrition to the discs. Waste products are removed, oxygen is delivered and concentrations are improved. Thus, the facilitation of healing and tissue repair.

"This works the Q.L.and Multifidus @ angles and vectors that allow me to perform myofascial releases like no other machine or table on the market. The versatility of the LumarROM is outstanding. This makes life much easier for me to do passive therapy and move them into an active protocols and resistant exercises on the same machine." Dr.Rick Mehaffy (Redwood City CA )

"VBR's LumbarROM is a great, diverse, piece of equipment that can be used thru the total care and treatment of athletes and patients. It can be used in both the acute and chronic phases of injuries, as well as in strengthening, rehabilitation, and everything in between. You can use it as a therapy modality, as a stretching and strengthening unit or to just address general back maintenance. Many of my athletes use the machine, and I use it myself. I believe that its the best thing out there in regards to all of things it can be used for, the simplicity of it, and results that it can help you to achieve." Protocols allow passive range of motion, active range of motion and progressing to active range of motion with light resistance. This machine is for the hands on therapist. The LR45 allows the therapist to maneuver the patient to manually release the quadratus lumborum, multifidus and other associated lumbar musculature.
The LumbarROM has the ability to perform passive flexion…Lengthen the erector spinae muscle group to its fullest extent, then concentrically perform an extension exercise safely. All of this without loading the disc other than the loads placed on the disc from the concentric muscular contraction of erector spinae muscles (which is minimal).
This is an assisted flexion and extension machine. It provides the best of both worlds. With flexion, you maximally hydrate the disc. Also, in the flexion portion of the exercise, the erector spinae muscle groups and the lumbar musculature is maximally lengthened. Therefore, once full flexion is achieved and the return to neutral via extension the user is utilizing full range of extension for maximal myofascial recruitment of fibers.
This machine allows active or passive ROM as the therapist performs the muscle therapy. Not just flexion, but the patient can also be placed in lateral bending or lateral flexion postures for muscle release. The patient may also be placed supine, and passive extension exercises may be administered based on the therapist's discretion.
LumbarROM is an excellent rehab follow up to decompression therapy and surgery. The LR-45 can be used under direct supervision by the doctor or as a warm up and stretching tool prior to therapy, or both.

Tracking range of motion is easy with our front display goniometer. The therapist can easily read where a patient's pain threshold is and monitor increasing range of motion from session to session.
